about

The band formed on a cold February day, the 9th to be exact, at Buddha Zen studios at South Street Sounds on South Street in Philadelphia, PA. Guitarists Joe Boylan and Dan Perry along with bassist Walt Mamaluy and drummer Mike Davis had been playing music and writing together for a year at Davis's house in Montgomery County. In February they hooked up with singer/studio owner Jason Jeffries and formed the band. They recorded Talltrees Fallen in the spring of 2002 and released it during a weekend of shows on South Street culminating in headlining the innaugural BuddhaFest which took place at The Tritone on June 15, 2002.

Written by Mike Davis and Dan Perry, "Silver Spoon" is the opening track from the debut album TallTrees Fallen released in June of 2002.The first of many collaborations between Mike as lyricist and Dan writing the music.

lyrics

She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth

her mother said that when she's grown
She would find herself a prince and he would put her on a thrown
And her daddy called her princess too
But you can call a shack a castle for the good that it will do
And they bought her silks, but skipped the rent
They faced evictions but the money's always spent
They kept her safe and they kept her clean
Figured if they raised her right she would grow in to a queen
When daddy died it really hurt
They lost all his income and had to put him in the dirt
And her mourning dress was very cute
It cost more than the deposit on daddy's rented suit

Born with a Silver spoon in her mouth
She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth

And she scowled at all the boys she met
To let them know that she was something they could never get
It worked at first it always does
Until the day the scowl became part of who she was
She laughed at first but shrugged instead
Laughter couldn't please her like the crown upon her head
At 49 she began to doubt
She told her mother she didn't think the fairy tale was working out
And her mother said, "Your dad's to blame
If he made us more things would never be the same
And the props we bought weren't good enough
But you almost pulled it off because you're made of better stuff
