about

Released on Double Fisted Misery, March 2003. In March 1999 while attending a Black Crowes concert at Philadelphia's Electric Factory Joe Boylan and Dan Perry witnessed a concert goer attack a police officer. It did not end well for said concert goer. His desperate cries of, "I Didin't Think it Would Be Like This" and his insanely stupid actions inspired the song.

Double Fisted Misery was the band's second release and was the exciting debut of what the band would become known for: Member turnover!

Mike Davis departed the east coast for Oklahoma and drummer Chris Garafalo replaced him. Utility man and back up vocalist Joe McBride was no longer needed and left. Joe MacKale joined the band as its first full time pianist/keyboardist, George Wright was brought in on guitar after Dan Perry bowed out during recording.

lyrics

What were you thinking
When the cop asked you to drop
With the Nitrous in your hand
And the hash in your pocket
Did you think they'd let you walk
After slapping them in the face
Now you're down on your hands and knees
And they're smacking you out a taste

Didn't think it would be like this
That's what you said
Well, brother it's like this
And they're beating you to death

Came up on us
With a smile from ear to ear
Sticking it to the man
Showing no fear
But that all seems to turn
And you got your lesson learned
Pepper sprayed in your face
As your eyes began to burn

Didn't think it would be like this
That's what you said
Well, brother it's like this
And they're beating you to death

I'm not one for Police Brutality
But watching your beating was
Entertaining to me
